Known locally for its family-friendly policies, Campbell Scientific was founded by 10 equal shareholders in 1974. The company has since grown to 300 employees who live in and around Logan. Those employees build, sell and maintain measurement and control systems that customers all over the world use to monitor water, weather, energy, machines, structures and the earth. Over the last four decades, the company has worked in tandem with Utah State University, which not only educates future employees but provides common ground with its research endeavors, has opened offices all over the globe and has introduced life-changing products to the organizations it services.
Company President Paul Campbell credits an intense feeling of community as one of the main reasons his employees live and stay in Cache Valley. “Our employees love living here. Part of that is community — the people, the culture of the valley,” he says. An abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities in the surrounding Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest also attract energetic and hardworking employees to the area, he says. “It’s a tremendous asset in terms of recreation and outdoor experience. We have a lot of employees who really enjoy using the public lands.”
